Berlin: Neptune's Fountain by the City Hall

View World 2016 on tedvanrossum's travel map.

As you can tell by now, I am really ENAMORED with statutes.
Put one one a building or stick it in a fountain and l'm all over it with my camera.

Here is Neptune's Fountain in front of the Ratskeller.
I just love Neptune's smug face as he surveys his domain.

Check Point Charlie

This is the location of the famous border crossing into West Berlin. It is still manned today,
But only by actors.

Munich... Such a Fun Place

Marienplatz

All tours of Munich start in the Marienplatz. You go there to see the Ratskeller (i.e. city hall) and if you arrive around 5 pm, you get to see the Glockenspeil. It is actually quite fun seeing the figures move. As you can see this is a pretty popular tourist attraction.

Hofbrauhaus

Another thing you can do there is go to the Hofbrauhaus and have a Stein of beer and listen to the Oompah band... we just took the pictures.

Walking Around the Area

This buildings in the old quarter are really quaint, with a lot of statuary having off them, as you can see below. You will be relieved to note that I had my obsession with statuary satiated in Berlin, so you will see less of that.

In Search of Beer

The next day we went in search of an outside beer garden. We went to the Chinese Tower in the English Garden, but we came too early, they don't service beer a 10:30... not deterred, we walked around the garden enjoying the big trees and open spaces and of course the standing wave surfers.

Finally Beer

We there went to the Hofgarten where we saw a lovely geometric park with a pavilion in the center and a lovely statue on top (I'm not completely cured.. ;). And yes we found our beer.
